Dear All,
The National Society for Clean Cities India - Children’s Complex had 342 children enrolled for the academic year 2023-24, an increase since the year before and post-Covid.We continue to offer Pre-primary Balwadi classes, a wholesome nutritious mid-day meal and milk. We believe that a value-based education incorporating the 11 points of good citizenship envisioned by our founder Begum Zehra Ali Yavar Jung will stand them in good stead. In the safe and nurturing environment of our Children’s Complex, we work towards empowering our children with knowledge, love and endless opportunities as we recognise them as leaders of tomorrow.
Our Art class continues to be an attraction and we are proud of our young artists who have won over 3802 prizes, 194 at the International level, 1160 National and 2448 at Local & State level. At the International Children and Young People’s Graphics Biennial held in Poland in the summer, only two entries from India won prizes, of which one was our very own Vikrant Sahni. At the All India Camel Colour contest, 6 year old Aayat Khan won the first prize.
Our Computer Centre, recognised by the Maharashtra State Certificate in Information Technology (MSCIT) continues to offer basic and advanced computer courses to children and adults. This year our Centre was felicitated with “Best MS-CIT Counselling“ award at MKCL’s annual Mumbai meet.
Dear All,
The National Society for Clean Cities India - Children’s Complex, after a hiatus of two years owing to the pandemic, had 268 children enrolled in the Balwadi for the academic year 2022-23. We continue to offer pre-primary education, a mid-day meal and milk as well as medical care to children from the neighbouring Kherwadi slums. A safe, nurturing environment with a garden and play area for our children is what we pride ourselves in. Many older children from neighbouring schools also attend our remedial classes which help them keep pace with the burgeoning school curriculum. It is our fervent endeavour to offer our children a value-based education in their impressionable years and to inculcate in them the values which our founder Begum Zehra Ali Yavar Jung had incorporated in her 11-point programme of good citizenship.
Our Art Section continues to be very popular and our young artists have won over the years 3751 prizes both nationally and internationally. At an International Art event held in Poland this year, two of the prize winners were from India, one of whom was from our own Children’s Complex.
Our Computer Centre with 35 computers offers both Basic and Advanced courses to children and adults. It is a recognised centre for the Maharashtra State Certificate in Information Technology (MSCIT), an initiative of the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd (MKCL).
Dear All,
Owing to the Covid Pandemic the National Society for Clean Cities India (NSCC-I) Children’s Complex had to shut down activities from early April 2021 until late May 2021.Thereafter there was a growing demand to initiate on line classes for the children. In October 2021, online classes were offered. This was seamlessly implemented with valuable inputs from our Computer Centre. We were heartened to learn of the keenness of parents to take on the challenge of online classes for their children.
The Art Section, Computer Section and Vocational Training courses continued but with lesser numbers.
Despite activities having been halted in the months after the Covid outbreak we were able to support all our staff and arrange periodic ration distributions to those in need and going through difficult times.
My thanks to all the members of the National Council and General Body, staff and teachers for their dedication and understanding. Thanks and gratitude to all our generous donors for their support in helping us tide over trying times.
Remedial coaching classes for older children continue to be conducted to help them keep pace with the demanding school curriculum.
Dear All, This year has been a difficult one for us all. Owing to the ongoing pandemic the National Society for Clean Cities – India Childrens’ Complex had to shut down all activities – Balwadis as well as vocational courses – and observe government regulations and protocols.
Over this time we have, however, supported all our staff, paying them full salaries through challenging circumstances. Whenever possible rations were distributed and we are very grateful to our many supportive donors for stepping in with supplies, toys, hygiene kits, gifts for children over the festive period and much more.
Online classes for our children commenced in October 2020 and were made possible by the remarkable team effort of our teachers and parents, ably supported and assisted by the computer department who worked tirelessly to make it possible. In view of the unprecedented times and difficult financial circumstances faced by our parents, we took a collective decision not to charge for admissions this year.
Details of all our activities are listed within the Annual Report.
